Senolysis in Pulmonary Fibrosis
Can clearing senescent cells safely reduce lung fibrosis and improve lung function in people with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis?
It can show whether senolytic drug testing and newer synthetic flavonols progress toward meaningful patient benefit. Feasibility and tolerability findings alone do not establish that fibrosis improves.

Where it stands now
Main bottleneck
Current evidence does not establish whether senescence clearance produces durable clinical benefit with acceptable safety in people with pulmonary fibrosis.
Watch next

Track continuity
Since the previous research note: What did a placebo comparison reveal about taking dasatinib and quercetin for lung scarring?
Previous expectation: Dasatinib and quercetin might help people with pulmonary fibrosis preserve breathing and everyday activity if larger, longer trials establish meaningful benefit and acceptable harm.
What this study adds: The September 2025 source introduces chemically optimized flavonols, including F-4N, with selective apoptosis findings in cultured lung fibroblasts and fibrosis-resolution findings in mice. It supplies a different candidate-development approach without testing the earlier forecast about patient outcomes from dasatinib and quercetin.
